Review of Grand Bahia Punta Cana

Hola Jo,
We had a great time in Punta Cana last week. It rained everyday but it lasted about 5 minutes. We went on 2 excursions. The outback safari was excellant. Our driver, Ramone and guide Eddie were very funny and informative. We made couple of stops. We stopped at a school, a home and little beach to go boogie boarding. Lunch was provided before the boogie boarding. 2nd excursion was Marinium. Some good/some bad points. We weren’t aware we had to swim/snorkle from boat to swim with shark/sting rays. A storm rolled in and guide helped us back to boat because water was real choppy. After getting back on boat the storm stopped. We had smoothe sailing for the rest of the trip and entertainment was good. Gran Bahia Principe Bavaro was really nice. We liked the shuttles going up and down our resort. In the heat, it was nice to ride than walk. Food was great. So much to choose from. The Apple Rep, Carlos, was very helpful. We had 2 ala cartes and wanted to go back to Garden Grill for 2nd time. Guest services couldn’t help us but Carlos suggested to go there and see if there was a cancellation. We tried an lo and behold we got another steak dinner. We mentioned we were on our anniversary and they surprised us with a small heart shaped cake with champagne. Nightly entertainment was very entertaining. Casino was small but we had no trouble getting a machine. We had a good time haggeling. All the service was good from waiters/waitress, bartenders, to maids. We would definetly go back. Thanks for all the tips you gave us. They came in handy. Another tip, don’t text or use cell phone out of country. Very expensive. Beware of parasailing, zip line and dune buggies. Storms come in very fast. Right in front of us, parasailers didn’t get in fast enough. The line snapped and the 2 people dropped 50 feet luckily in water; however, wind took them up again and flew another 50 feet. People on beach rushed along the beach to try to get parasail in waters!or it wouldn’t take the people up again. Scarry sight. Per another vacationer, zip line has no safety line like in US. Only 1 line rather than 2. Saw dune buggy hit a telephone pole because there is no rules driving on the road. We are already thinking of where we want to go next year; maybe Costa Rica? Thanks again for all your help.Alex/Tina
